Team
Révision AM is a company that offers, in French and English, language editing, proofreading, translation, and writing services.
Alexandre Michaud
Founder-President and Language Editor
Révision AM was founded in 2018 by Alexandre Michaud, who holds a Master’s degree in French-language literatures from Université de Montréal and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Modern Languages (Russian and English profiles).
Self-employed for several years as a language editor, and having worked in various companies as a writer and editor, Alexandre observed a growing market demand for language editing over time. Passionate about the French language and eager to offer top-quality service, he decided to create his own company to serve university students, immigrants, businesses, and writers. He continues to be inspired and energized by the path and voice he has chosen, and he shares that energy with his clients.
Alexandre is also an author: his first novel, Francis, was published in March 2020 by VLB and won the 2019 Robert-Cliche Award for a first novel. His writing explores, among other themes, the complexity of human relationships, the absurdity of life on Earth, human cruelty, and madness.
A French word that moves me: Embruns
A French word that unsettles me: There are so many! Off the top of my head, “monsieur” is really strange when you think about it. We don’t pronounce “mon sieur.” French is full of oddities like that.
Favorite typeface: Century Gothic
A memorable read: Dostoevsky’s Demons (and many others!)
A language that calls to me: Russian, for its simultaneously military and poetic character
Élise
Editor and Translator
Élise is an insatiably curious person who spends much of her free time letting her mind wander through the pages of a book. She loves words, grammar and syntax.
Élise détient un baccalauréat en éducation et une majeure en littératures de langue française de l’Université de Montréal. Après une carrière en enseignement, elle fait un virage à 180 degrés et décide de rejoindre l’équipe de Révision AM en tant qu’adjointe, réviseure et traductrice (anglais vers le français).
Wanting to add another skill set, she is completing a certificate in translation at Université de Montréal.
A French word that moves me: maelström
A French word that unsettles me: pataquès
Favorite typeface: Noteworthy
A memorable read: Réjean Ducharme’s L’hiver de force
A language that calls to me: Japanese, for its complexity and the beauty of its writing system
Catherine Anne Laranjo
Editor and Translator
A writer-traveler, in love with worlds and words, Catherine Anne Laranjo has been working as a language professional for over eight years. After a certificate in Creative Writing and a Bachelor’s degree in Literary Studies, she went on to complete a Master’s degree in Creative Writing at Université du Québec à Montréal. Her work focuses on travel writing, practices of presence in the world, and the potential of encounters. Here and elsewhere, she continues her exploration of languages, which for her are ways of building windows and bridges within us and between us. In addition to French, she speaks and writes English, Portuguese, and Italian, and therefore edits, writes, and translates to or from one of these languages into another.
A French word that moves me: berge
A French word that unsettles me: portion
Favorite typeface: Goudy Old Style
A memorable read: Rebecca Solnit’s A Field Guide to Getting Lost
A language that calls to me: Romanian, for its roundness
A particularly special mistake: “sailing” instead of “ceiling”
