LITERARY WRITING COACHING
Literary Writing Coaching is intended for individuals who would like editorial support to refine their manuscript. This service involves working with the author to provide guidance and solutions aimed at improving both the writing style and the content of the manuscript.
For the past two years, Alexandre has provided me with editing services through Révision AM, and I am very satisfied with the work delivered, which always meets my expectations. I highly recommend him.
Literary Writing Coaching
Literary Writing Coaching is carried out alongside,, and in collaboration with, language editing, but it focuses much more on substance than on form, on content rather than presentation. Once language errors have been addressed, the goal becomes to nourish, support, and bring out the essence of the text. The manuscript is reread through a different lens: less mechanical and grammar-driven, more intuitive and sensitive.
This approach is similar to editorial work. After the coach has worked through the manuscript, it is returned to the author with an overall set of comments in list form, including: the elements that seem to work best or resonate most; weaker passages or elements that would benefit from reworking; aspects that raise questions and should be examined and weighed. For each point raised, care is always taken to provide concrete examples and to suggest practical avenues for improvement, to support the author in the editorial process, which is demanding but beneficial and formative.
Comments or suggestions may relate to verb tenses, characters’ psychological or narrative development, register and tone, the inclusion of foreign terms, intertextuality, and more, in short, anything that emerges through reading and that may affect the strength and accuracy of the text, as well as how it is received by readers. Above all, it is a conversation between the coach, the author, and the manuscript, which makes this service comprehensive, unique, and valuable.
Timeline
First, there is an initial reading followed by feedback. The author may then choose to incorporate the comments, return to drafting, and submit a rewritten version, which will be read and commented on again, and so on, as many times as necessary or desired. Exchanges can take place by email, phone, video call, or in person when circumstances allow.
Rates
Literary Writing Coaching costs $80 per hour.
The number of hours is determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the quality of the writing and language, the author’s objectives, and how the work unfolds in real time.
